Hey everyone!
Today I just wanted to share something that has been on my heart lately: the importance of spiritual rest.
This past month has been utterly exhausting in every way. Physically, my body is tired and hurting due to the fact that I have been sick for the past four weeks. Mentally, I am exhausted from the endless amounts of studying and preparation and work that the end of the school year requires. Emotionally, I am exhausted from the sleepless nights due to stress and anxiety and my tears seem to be endless.
While I know physical rest is incredibly important, I think the main thing causing my exhaustion is the lack of spiritual rest. I long for quiet time with Jesus, to be consumed by His presence and feel revived, but the chaos of everyday life seems to always find a way to wedge itself between me and my private time with Jesus. The devil is constantly trying to distract us from our relationship with God, but allowing him to do so strips us of our comfort & revival. Jesus provides us the rest we need to overcome our exhaustion. When the storms life brings seem to overtake us, Jesus is right there, ready to fight the battle for us. Through Him, we find our revival. Our souls awaken when we ask Him to come into our lives and transform our current situations.
Even though life has not been so wonderful lately, I have found comfort in some of my lowest moments. Crying out in the middle of the night, I have felt Jesus's presence surrounding me, providing me with both the physical strength and spiritual energy that I need to get through the next day. Jesus is near. He is holding my tears and my exhaustion and my stress and my anxiety and everything in between... and He is doing the exact same thing for you! We can't get through this life alone, we do not have the strength by ourselves, we must turn to Jesus for the rest He promises to provide.
I encourage all of you to take some time to find the rest that God is offering to you (I know I certainly need to do the same). Even just five minutes of reading the Bible or saying a quick prayer could be the revival that you've been missing. Please know that this exhaustion will not last forever... Jesus is waiting to give you rest; He wants to restore your soul.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." -Matthew 11:28
"When my spirit grows faint within me, it is You who watches over my way." -Psalm 142:3
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit... He is their refuge and rest." - Psalm 34:18
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I pray that those in need of your mighty power will feel a new sense of rejuvenation as we turn to You. I pray that You will grant the brokenhearted the rest we so desperately need. I pray that your spiritual rest will triumph the exhaustion of this world. Even in times of troubles, we will praise You. We will find of revival in Your name as we sing Your endless prayers and expand Your kingdom for Your glory.
In Your name,
Amen
